Join one of our baking classes and explore how to bake the bread and pastry from Great Northern Food Hall. Instructed by one of our talented bakers and pastry chefs, you will learn how to bake in a professional kitchen, and apply these lessons to bake at home. Once you become familiar with smelling, tasting, listening and observing what happens along the way with your dough and bread, you will achieve better results, and find it much more fun to bake at home.
Whether you are a novice or an experienced home baker, a Great Northern Food baking class is an abundant culinary experience. Our host will serve refreshments during the class, and take care of the dishes, so you can focus on what is important.
ABOUT GREAT NORTHERN FOOD AND THE BROOKLYN KITCHEN
The Brooklyn Kitchen is delighted to announce a collaboration with Great Northern Food. Throughout February and March. GNF will be holding a variety of Nordic-influenced hands on baking and cooking classes in their space on Driggs Avenue in Williamsburg (Great Northern Food is a food hall and adjoining 1 star Michelin/3 star NYTimes restaurant, Agern, within Grand Central Station’s Vanderbilt Hall, both founded by culinary entrepreneur Claus Meyer).
With this collaboration, Great Northern Food’s chef-instructors aim to bring their knowledge and experience in bread baking, building flavors and sharing a love of food rooted in Nordic cuisine with a wider audience. GNF is especially excited to be able to offer a new class, Soul Food, taught by Chef Charlene and Chef Mette of the Brownsville Community Culinary Center in Brownsville Brooklyn. The BCCC hosts the only seated restaurant in Brownsville, and is enthusiastically training Brownsville residents to work in in-demand foodservice jobs and hospitality.
