Even if you have a dependable bagel spot, it’s still exciting to follow the burgeoning crop of bagel entrepreneurs. Apollo Bagels and Pop-Up Bagels—which started in 2022 and 2020 respectively—are no longer the new kids in town. Enter Caputo Bagels, a modern bagel shop with a hand-rolled sourdough version founded by a fifth-generation New York baker. Bagels aside, plenty more Brooklyn openings have landed in town, including a Williamsburg steakhouse meant to feel like an intimate supper club, a spot melding Mexican street food and Indian flavors, and a New Orleans-inspired restaurant in Park Slope.

Opened early October 2026
A comforting, crackly taste of New Orleans has landed in Park Slope. Voodoo Queen Soul Kitchen offers a menu built around seasoned seafood and Southern-comfort classics. Gumbo and jambalaya are mainstays, but fried shrimp platters, smoked brisket, and dirty rice round out the menu. This restaurant comes full circle for owner George Constantinou, who began his hospitality career at the influential Brooklyn soul food restaurant Night of the Cookers.

Opened September 26, 2026

On the border of Sunset Park and Bay Ridge, Bombay Birria melds popular Mexican street foods with Indian ingredients and flavors. Traditional goat birria tacos arrive with consommé, while tortillas are filled with butter chicken, tandoori paneer, saffron pineapple, and more. Beyond tortillas, you’ll find chaat masala fries, a breakfast wrap with green chutney, and drinks like masala chai and Madras coffee. Altogether, it’s a delicious playground exploring connections between two disparate cuisines with an encyclopedia of assertive spices, slow-cooked meats, and flaky handheld breads.

Opened October 5, 2026

Brooklyn has a new modern bagel shop from an experienced baker. When James Caputo’s family bakery closed after 122 years, he teamed up with longtime friend and hospitality veteran Rafael “Rafi” Hasid to open Caputo. This bagel isn’t trying to mimic the old school New York-style. Instead, they debuted a hand-rolled sourdough version that uses a decades-old family starter. Plain, sesame, and everything bagels are to be expected, but you can opt for creative combinations like the signature Lard Provolone Bagel. Sandwich devotees will find plentiful filling options including smoked salmon, whitefish, tuna salad, or harissa cream cheese with pickled eggplant.
Booth’s Extra Fine

Opened October 6, 2026
If you enjoy feasting on steakhouse classics but in a supper club-like ambiance, Booth’s Extra Fine might be for you. Chef-owner Nick Pfannerstill, an alum of Café Boulud and Dovetail, modeled the Williamsburg restaurant after the tastes of his grandfather Booth, a Milwaukee car salesman who relished steaks and cold martinis. The menu features well-calibrated yet unfussy steakhouse favorites, including chilled seafood, dry-aged bone-in ribeye, truffle ravioli, and a horseradish burger. Just like the namesake Booth, you can cap off your dinner with a freezer-poured martini.
Naked Tomato

Opening October 14, 2026
After opening Naked Tomato in Miami, chef Eyal Shani always wanted to bring the second location to Williamsburg Wharf. Like all good sequels, Shani’s “naked food” philosophy also runs through the menu: Seasonal ingredients are handled minimally so their inherent flavors can shine. Highlights include anchovy baguette bruschetta, poulet rouge braised with caramelized onions, and lokus chraime with spicy tomatoes, tahini, and schug. You’ll inevitably feel at ease in the restaurant’s waterfront space with soaring 21-foot ceilings and large windows facing the surrounding park.
