Lucy just wanted to be married to God. So, when her betrothed got whiff that she was giving away her dowry to the poor, she was sentenced to a brothel and public humiliation. When they came to take her away, she was so filled with the holy spirit that she could not be moved.
Lucy was heavier than a mountain.
They tortured her and gouged out her beautiful eyes. She died a martyr. Before her burial, God put her eyes back. Since then, she’s saved the Sicilians from famine a bunch of times.
At last, another bearer of light in the darkness, Chef MEREDITH KURTZMAN, is cooking up a meal in her honor. Enamored with Santa Lucia, she has been collecting images of the lady with the gouged eyes for years, so feast yours on her Lucia inspired MENU:
