Prospect Lefferts Gardens — the section of Flatbush adjacent to the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens and Prospect Park — is home to some of Brooklyn’s best jerk chicken. Here’s where to go when you’re feeling spiced up or just want a nice cup of coffee.

Scoops Ice Cream Parlor
624 Flatbush Ave.
Scoops is a neighborhood favorite, serving ice cream and vegetarian-friendly options. It just recently reopened after the neighborhood rallied to save it. Cash only, though!

Peppa’s Jerk Chicken Restaurant
738 Flatbush Ave.
If you’re on Flatbush Avenue and you don’t get jerk chicken, you’re absolutely missing out. Peppa’s is a cash-only, counter service joint for all your chicken, oxtail and rice needs.

Taqueria El Patron Mexican Grill
51 Lincoln Rd.
El Patron’s happy hour deals mean business. Their margaritas will get you tipsy, but luckily there are free chips and salsa (a New York City rarity!) to tide you over. There’s a wide quesadilla and burrito selection, too.

Loud Baby
696 Flatbush Ave.
Loud Baby is a bit hard to find since there’s no sign, but you’ll know you’re there when you see it. It’s small, cute and run by a sweet family who also designs children’s clothing. The apple turnover goes great with the latte!

Streetsweeper Cafe and Lounge
594 Rogers Ave.
Whether you’re in the mood for brunch or pizza, Streetsweeper will satisfy those cravings. Plus, there’s an outdoor space.

Amy Thai Bistro
545 Flatbush Ave.
Rejoice! The first Thai restaurant in Prospect Lefferts Gardens has arrived. Ideal for take-out but also has a very modern storefront. The green chicken curry is a customer favorite!

Glou Wine Bar
406 Rogers Ave.
After a beautiful stroll in Prospect Park, Glou Wine Bar is a chic place to take a date to. You can get a crème brûlée and pair it with a wine of your choice.
