Simone Tong, a former cook at the lauded and late wd~50, has struck out on her own. The forthcoming Little Tong Noodle Shop will be bringing a taste of the Yunnan province of China to the East Village—but first, she’s popping up on Wednesday, February 22 at Gotan in Williamsburg. The 7 p.m. seating is already sold out, so make sure to nab $20 tickets for the 8:30 p.m. seating.

That $20 will get you a bowl of noodles and an appetizer of your choice, with additional items and drinks available à la carte. The rice noodles are called mixian (pronounced mee-shen), and the rest of the fare will include seasonal small plates, house-made pickles, condiments and sauces inspired by the regions of southwest China.

Get a taste of Tong’s cooking while she’s still firming up the menu, then keep an eye out for the permanent space, slated to open next month at 177 First Avenue.
