Saturday is Nat’l Cash Mob Day, with a Park Slope Meetup Planned for 4 pm

We just got the following note about a National Cash Mob Day meetup this Saturday from contributor Amy Cortese, who wrote a piece for this magazine last summer about the Slow Money movement. Cortese is also the author of Locavesting: the Revolution in Local Investing and How to Profit From It.  If you want to participate–it’s Saturday–read on.

Dear friends & Brooklynites,

Wanted to make sure you knew about Brooklyn’s very first Cash Mob taking
place this Saturday, March 24th, in honor of National Cash Mob Day. What’s a
Cash Mob? It’s when a group of people descend on a local business they want
to support. Cash mobs are taking off across the country, so it’s time to
have one of our own! The rules are simple:

1. Show up at agreed upon time/place
2. Spend $20 (or more if you like) at the merchant
3. Make a beeline for the nearest watering hole for drinks

The plan is to meet at 4 pm next Saturday outside the Tea Lounge on Union St
in Park Slope.

837 Union Street
Brooklyn, NY 11215
(718) 789-2762

*** This is not the merchant we will mob, btw. That’s a closely held secret.
But it’s very nearby will I think appeal to this literate group (hint).

So please come out to support your local business & have some fun! And
please spread the word!

There is a twitter account set up @CashMobBKLYN
For future mobs, we will be taking suggestions.
