  • Some cool stats from our pals at Just Food: In 2015, they trained 80 new community chefs, 306 community advocates, and 102 educators. Taught 7,741 New Yorkers fundamental seasonal cooking and urban agriculture skills. Connected 800 local food and food justice advocates at their 2015 conference. Launched 3 new CSAs and 4 new community-led farmers’ markets. Made fresh, local produce available to 228,240 New Yorkers through their network of 27 farmers’ markets, 49 food pantries and 110 CSAs.
  • Got compost? If you want to set up a compost program in your hood, there are $750 grants available. Apply here.
  • We’re a big fan of the new German-style bakery Sweet & Salzig. Problem is, they only bake on certain special days. This Saturday, March 5, is one of them. Get on it!
