A vacation to Spain this summer would’ve been nice, but alas, it wasn’t in the cards. Luckily, Nick Suarez (of the Backyard Cooking Company) and Theo Peck (of Peck’s) brought a taste of Spain to Brooklyn for a crowd of hungry, staycation New Yorkers. Feast is a good word to describe what went down at the Brooklyn Brewery last Wednesday. Pass the Paella! featured sides that satiated (a terrine, crusty bread from Bien Cuit and carrots with salsa verde buttermilk dressing) alongside the main attraction, a beautiful paella prepared in the biggest pan we’d ever seen and overflowing with chicken, chorizo, piquillo peppers, saffron, mussels and cockles with aioli sauce. Ole! To wash it all down? Cans of beer from our host, Brooklyn Brewery. It was an all-you-can-eat extravaganza that had us (or at least our stomachs) convinced that we were a million miles away…if only for a few hours. Check out the slideshow to see for yourself! Or better yet, check out our groovy video and learn all about what a difference a paella pan can make.
