Last time Miranda ten Broeke hosted one of her underground bar crawl scavenger hunts, it involved hiring real psychics to tell people about their futures before delivering a scripted clue. Past events have also involved custom-made G Train M&Ms, a surprise sailing trip and a pickleback piñata. And the next hunt, which happens on June 27 at 4:00 p.m., will promote the wonderful work of New York Restoration Project. Register here by June 20 to snag your spot. Tickets cost $45 and include the hunt, dinner and two drinks.
The event, which is loosely based on A Midsummer Night’s Dream, will take you to bars all over Brooklyn while chasing clues and solving riddles. While most of the details are still under wraps, ten Broeke admits that every bar on the route (fittingly) has a garden. Participants are encouraged to dress in costume, and teams of five to ten individuals will compete against one another to win prizes. Afterwards, everyone parties together at a secret location.
Guests are encouraged to patronize the bars they visit along the route. “The questions get progressively easier as people drink more and more,” ten Broeke promises. Put your crossword puzzles aside and solve riddles in real life: These things only happen once every few months, and you’ll have to wait until October if you miss this one.
