Sometimes we want more than the story of where our food is sourced. Instead, we want to see that source for ourselves, and especially during the balmy late summer and early autumn harvest season.

Next Saturday, September 14, Kinderhook Farm will host a farm tour, cooking lessons and dinner on their property. Located on over 1,000 acres in the Hudson Valley, Kinderhook Farm specializes in pasture-raised grass-fed beef and lamb. The farm also tends to pastured chicken, heritage breed pigs and an apiary. Although they might be quite a ways from the city, the farm supplies local restaurants and shops including:

The Saturday event will go from 2-8 p.m. After the tour, cooking lessons will convene and show guests how to season and grill ribs, braise winter greens, fry chicken and make a winter succotash among other skills. Guests will then dine on the fruits of their labors.
In total, the purchase of one ticket will include:
– A tour of the farm
– Afternoon snacks
– A cooking lesson
– An opportunity to collect eggs
– Up to three alcoholic drinks and/or unlimited soft drinks
– A full dinner paired with wine and beer from Chatham Brewing and Chatham Winery
