The second annual Great Food Truck Derby will be rolling onto the grounds of the Hayground School in Bridgehampton on August 9. There will be beer; there will be wine; there will be tacos and crepes and grilled cheese and vegetarian pate and … all the good things from street food vendors, who will travel from far (like New York City) and wide (like Water Mill). Confirmed participants as of press time are Wandering Palate, Hamptons Coffee Company, Montaco, Sweet’tauk, Hamptons Foodie, Eat Me Drink Me and Blondies. Grab your ticket here.
The derby will coincide with the weekly farmers market held at Hayground, which includes games and activities for children. The event is also a benefit for Jeff’s Kitchen, named after founding parent Jeff Salaway, who helped birth the idea of a teaching kitchen as part of the school’s daily curriculum. Today, a rotating group of students—ages 5 to 13—takes bi-weekly shifts planning, preparing and serving the lunch to the entire student and teacher body.
Tickets are $60 and include a dish from each trucks; at least 20 trucks will be there. A $75 ticket gets you the addition bonus of a subscription to Edible East End, delivered to right to your door. Snag your spot here.
