Eat-Drink-Local Week is almost here (the eight-day love fest for our foodshed kicks off Saturday!). Chefs around the city are sharpening their knives and firing up their grills (and some of them planning entire Eat-Drink-Local Feasts, like this backyard pig roast in Bryant Park) to take on a week of locavore cooking. We won’t spoil all the fun, but here are just a few of the gloriously local dishes you, too, can be devouring next week (plus more in the slideshow):
At iCi try Clawhammer Farm’s pork tenderloin with dijon-herb crust, pulled smoked pork hock and wilted red chard, or skip straight to the sweet stuff with a sour cherry tart & pistachio chantilly.
At Telepan, dive into a Boston lettuce wedge with shaved zucchini, fried blossoms & green tomato ‘ranch’ and, while you’re living it up, add local wine pairings to your meal.
And at Almond, savor crusted local bluefish with braised radishes, garlic scapes, sautéed greens and grilled baby leek puree–all from New York state.
Need we say more? The possibilities are endless, but tables are not. Book yours in Manhattan, Brooklyn or the East End here now.
