The Edibles are definition hyper-local publications. But at heart we’re food lovers, fans of Caribbean turtle stews, Austrian dumplings and Spanish chorizo and boquerones. Hence our first-ever travel issue, which we’re working on right now and will hit the streets later this fall. In honor of that (and Edible Manhattan‘s travel issue, too) we’re also having our first-ever travel party: Edible Escape is your ride to countless destinations near and far — all to be tasted right in the Lower East Side.
On Wednesday, October 19th from 6 to 9 p.m., trick your taste buds into thinking they’re in Austria, with Essen from Edi & The Wolf, or Spain, with comida from Txikito. The food from Brooklyn’s Purple Yam might just make you run straight home and book a ticket to the Philippines, while Harney & Sons teas will have you planning a daycation up to Millerton, New York. Continue your culinary travels with plates from Cabot Cheese, Organic Valley, Caseus Fromagerie Bistro, Whole Foods, Kati Roll, El Parador, Macao Trading Co., Asiadog and Mercadito. There’s also beverages from Dr. Franks winery in the Finger Lakes, Hendrick’s Gin and Tuthilltown Spirits. I Love NY, Long Island Wine Council, Maria Loi and Wines of South Africa will also be along for the trip. The venue itself, the incredible Angel Orensanz Center in the Lower East Side, will also go far to transport you to another time and place.
So treat yourself to a little Wednesday evening trip around the world: get your tickets for Edible Escape here. The sooner you buy the better, we only have a limited number of early birds for just $30!
