We think City Harvest is pretty cool indeed for bringing a big-time fundraiser to the borough of Kings, instead of ordinary old Manhattan. (Been there, done that.) And the event, which takes place this Saturday, September 17, is pretty cutting edge too. It’s called The Brooklyn Local, and it gathers dozens and dozens of the borough’s best food-makers and artisans and chefs and cookbook authors at The Tobacco Warehouse, down by the water in DUMBO from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., rain or shine. There’s a tasting tent (get the list of restaurants here) and around 75 vendors assembled for a one-time only market (get the list of food-sellers here). Tickets for the tasting tent are $60, but tickets to the market also score you access to the book signing tent (get the list of authors here.) Your truly will be there in person to autograph your copy of the Edible Brooklyn cookbook, which is so hot off the presses it technically won’t be released until October 4th.
