DESCRIPTION:From the organizers: \nEdible Brooklyn (and Manhattan) readers are invited to an enormous bagel party for National Bagel and Lox Day\, where Acme Fish and Zucker’s Bagels hope to set a Guinness record for the largest bagel and lox sandwich. \nThe experts from Acme and Zucker’s will assemble an enormous Everything Bagel made by Zucker’s and topped with cream cheese\, Acme’s Nova Scotia Smoked Salmon\, tomatoes\, red onions and capers—then weigh it for official Guinness record-breaking purposes\, before cutting it up for the crowd. \nThe event is free and open to the public. \n  \nAbout Acme Smoked Fish Corp.\nBased in Brooklyn\, New York\, Acme Smoked Fish Corp. is a fourth-generation\, family-owned company and the country’s leading smoked fish purveyor. SUMMARY:MOFAD Dinners of the Past: Beefsteak
DESCRIPTION:From the organizers:\nIn 1939\, New Yorker writer Joseph Mitchell described a beefsteak as “a form of gluttony as stylized and regional as the riverbank fish fry\, the hot-rock clambake\, or the Texas barbeque.” MOFAD\, in conjunction with chef Josh Stokes and food entrepreneur Franz Aliquo\, are bringing back this historic New York City institution. No utensils. No napkins. Just an apron between you and a pile of meat. While eating and drinking your fill\, Paul Lukas\, beefsteak scholar\, will go into the theories on how this event got started in 19th century New York and why some thought it was “debased”. \nThis is a Feasts and Festivals program in partnership with SAVEUR and Roland Foods.

SUMMARY:Savory Salon Holiday Edition
DESCRIPTION:From the organizers: \nCelebrating this holiday season with us on Sunday\, December 17th at our friend NUMU Vegan Cheese headquarters in Brooklyn. \nEnjoy four courses of global cuisine made with all plant-based ingredients inspired by dishes from Thailand\, Korea\, Hawaii and more. This menu references the different flavor profiles of various cuisines in an exploratory\, inspirational\, educational and enjoyable way. \nABOUT PAS\nPas is a Thai Native who moved to New York City in 1992. After finishing an MFA at Pratt Institute\, his love for New York and its food got the best of him and so he has been living there ever since. \nHe ate everything from every buzzed-about restaurant. He gained weight and got sick before he realized that the expression\, “you are what you eat”\, was actually true. \nHe used to live by the words of Alexander Woolcott\, “All the things I really like to do are either illegal\, immoral\, or fattening.” So when he adopted a plant-based lifestyle\, he shocked and saddened all his friends. \nPas brings creativity and a personal touch to create engaging\, memorable events. He champions plant-based local businesses by providing a platform for them to reach new audiences. \nPas has been feeding his friends at his Sunday brunch for years and is now feeding the curious minds and stomachs at the various pop-up restaurant in New York City and at The Brampton in the Adirondack. His approach is to have fun with food and bring joy & comfort using local ingredients through his dishes. \nABOUT NUMU\nNUMU Vegan: a brand new vegan mozzarella with melt\, stretch\, and flavor that you haven’t experienced with other non-dairy cheeses! Enjoy a unique pop-up dining experience at NUMU Vegan Headquarters! Located across from the Brooklyn Navy Yards\, this is where the Research and Development for NUMU Vegan happens.
