SUMMARY:Open Baking Day at the Old Stone House
DESCRIPTION:From our organizers: \nSpecial Father’s Day edition! Come join us for Community Baking Day at the oven! \nYou can bring any dish or recipe — from bread to chicken\, from cookies to pie — and cook it yourself in the outdoor wood-fired oven. \nJace and Yasmin will bring some pizza to kick off the baking! \nYou don’t have to share what you bake\, but you will find many willing taste-testers! Kids are welcome and generally have a great time. Non-bakers are also welcome to come hang out and volunteer for taste-testing duty! \nWe’ll meet at the stone oven next to the Old Stone House (http://theoldstonehouse.org/)\, in the middle of the park on 3rd Street\, between 4th Ave and 5th Ave\, in Brooklyn. \nFiring the oven will start around 9am\, and we’ll bake from noon-ish until 4pm. Drop by any time! Keep in mind\, when it gets busy there may be a wait of an hour or so until a spot opens up in the oven. \nWe’ll be standing around outside the entire time\, so be sure to dress with that in mind. \nThe weather can be unpredictable. We will bake even if it is cold or raining\, as long as it is calm out. However\, if it is windy we may cancel. \nIf you’re baking\, a suggested donation of $5 to the Old Stone House for the Oven Fund would be much appreciated — it helps pay for firewood. Thanks!

DESCRIPTION:From the organizers: \nLove dumplings and eager to make them at home? Join us in this 2-hour dumpling extravaganza\, where we’ll learn the basics of wrapping both Chinese dumplings and wontons. \nThen we will move on to the cooking process\, to learn a sure-fire method for pan-frying dumplings to crispy perfection. Both meat (pork) and vegetarian/vegan (spinach) fillings will be available to work with. We’ll cook and eat all of our wontons and dumplings to enjoy with wine at the end of class. \nBe sure to select the correct session from the drop down menu on the next page! \nPlease let us know if you have any food allergies/sensitivies in advance by replying to your confirmation email.
