OLD RUSSIAN NEW YEAR: A MOFAD HOLIDAY PARTY (21+)

From our organizers:

Don’t want the holiday season to end? Come celebrate Old Russian New Year with us!
The 1918 Russian Revolution dropped thirteen days from the old Julian calendar leaving the religious population in the middle of a 40-day fast on New Year’s Eve. In order to still enjoy the holiday festivities, the community decided to celebrate New Year’s Eve according to the Julian calendar, after the winter fast.
Join MOFAD for this immersive culinary and cultural celebration. Prepare for multiple toasts, a historical workshop led by our very own Irina Groushevaia, and a celebratory Russian spread with caviar and vodka. Let MOFAD walk you through the customs of Russian celebrations and by the time it’s over you can throw your own Russian fête, like a real Siberian Oligarch. So Starym Novym Godom!
Doors open at 7:00 pm. Last call at 9:30 pm. Tickets include admission to Chow: Making the Chinese American Restaurant, traditional Russian fare, beverages, and a complimentary vodka toast! Ages 21 and over.
