Intro to Beekeeping

This winter introduction to beekeeping class with Carin Zinter will leave you buzzing with excitement! Inside the warmth of our indoor classroom, Carin will provide you with a crash course in apiculture, walking participants through a brief history of beekeeping, the issues around beekeeping today, and the importance of apiculture in maintaining a healthy food system. We’ll discuss the anatomy of a honey bee; the biology and life cycle of the colony; as well as equipment, hive architecture and basics in beekeeping safety.

To finish up our class we’ll taste honeys from all over the world and see how terroir truly affects the flavor of one of our favorite sweets.

This workshop is perfect for those of you who are considering beekeeping for the first time and want to learn more before bee season is in full swing. If this is the year for you to dive into beekeeping, this class is a great place to start!
