It’s finally nice enough to start enjoying happy hour outside, and you may need to brush up on your local craft brew knowledge before ordering the perfect ping pong pairing. Tonight, the Five Boro Craft Beer Fest is making that research easy by bringing together 44 brewers to serve more than 100 craft beers in Long Island City. The tasting will include — you guessed it — breweries from each borough as well as bites from Lawless Jerky and Takumi Taco.
Best of all? Proceeds will be donated to Greenmarket’s Regional Grains Project: the grainshed revitalization project that connects the dots between growers, maltsters and distillers across the region. “We are thrilled to be working with the Five Boro Craft Beer Fest again this year,” says GrowNYC representative Laura McDonald, adding that the Greenmarket’s partnership with Brooklyn Brewery on Greenmarket Wheat created one of the first truly local craft beers.
Tickets are $85 and include a glass and unlimited tastings. Head out to Long Island City to sample 2 oz. pours from Other Half, Queens Brewery, Threes Brewing, Kombrewcha and more. Don’t miss a performance by this band of 12-year-old boys — their alarmingly professional website alone is enough to make you feel like you’re light years behind the curve.
