Slow Spirits, Sip It Eeez-ay

SoNY_0More than 30 distilleries have kicked into gear in New York since the late aughts — and from 7-9pm tonight at the Astor Center, you can check out a multitude of Empire-centric flights of fancy at the Second Annual Spirits of New York sippin’ extravaganza.

A collaborative crush between Slow Food NYC and Astor, this locavore pour of a tasting highlights producers making their hooch in the Empire State using New York-sourced ingredients and fairly traded other source-ables in the mix (or distillate or crush or infusion) if they can’t get it here. Producers will include: Finger Lakes Distilling, Jack from Brooklyn, Breuckelen Gin, Industry City, Harvest Spirits, Catskill’s Distilling, Hillrock Estate Distillery, Tuthilltown Spirits, and Uncouth Vermouth, among other fine New York-centric producers. Tickets are 40 clams ($30 if you’re a Slow Food member) and you can get ’em here. Cheers!
