Our fourth annual Eat Drink Local week begins June 23rd, which means we once again need your help choosing the Seven Ingredients of the Week.
To jog your memory, Eat Drink Local Week is celebrated by Edibles around the Tri-state area. It’s a week of events, special meals and other activities designed to raise awareness about the bounty of products grown in our region; drive customers like you to the restaurants and other businesses that feature these products; and raise funds for charitable organizations dedicated to regional agriculture throughout the region.
The Seven Ingredients are meant to showcase the best of our region and this season, and will be spotlighted at our events, as well as at the restaurants and retail shops that participate in the Week. Should we be celebrating the first bunches of parsley? Jersey tomatoes? Rooftop greens? Brooklyn sausages? Strawberry wine? Hudson Valley hops? Long Island nano-brews?
Check out the lists from the past two years below for inspiration, then add your suggestions right here in the comments by May 1. A few lucky contributors (hopefully seven) will score not just the honor of having their favorite food served all over town for an entire day, but a free year’s subscription.
In the meantime, stay tuned for more information about this year’s Eat Drink Local Week events, and maybe RSVP for an Eat Drink Local meal at our partner restaurants in Manhattan, Brooklyn and on the East End. You can search our whole Eat Drink Local guide–which also includes locally minded shops and other retailers–by neighborhood right here, too.
